Ford is issuing a safety recall for around 205,000 (actual 204,448) 2007-2008 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUVs in corrosion states and provinces in North America for possible rust under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted to the vehicle.
This condition might lead to a fuel odor, fuel leak or possibly a check engine light. A fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source might result in a fire. Ford realizes one fire that may be associated with this condition, without any injuries and no mishaps.
Influenced automobiles include specific 2007-2008 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX cars developed at Oakville Assembly, from June 15, 2006 to Sept. 22, 2008. Ford is aware of 186,024 cars in the United States and federalized areas, and 18,424 automobiles in Canada.
Influenced automobiles include those that are currently signed up or were originally offered in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Beside US states recalls affected vehicles that were sold in the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
Dealerships will certainly examine the fuel tank and either change or repair it at no cost to the client.
