Ford Focus is a fine compact family car with friendly face and nature alike. However, Focus has its dark side in the face of the high-performing RS model which had won 44 rallies in World Championship series over the years, or rather it had. After 2016, Focus will have this face again as RS’s revival looks to be a done deal. 2016 Ford Focus RS will bring smiles to the faces of not only most of the sport enthusiasts, but to the common drivers alike. Ford Focus RS 2016 will be the synthesis of a sport and conventional car and the synthesis of a speedy and comfortable car alike.
2016 Ford Focus RS changes
Ford RS will be different than the rest of the lineup, but the differences won’t be as dramatic as they used to be in RS’s previous cycle. Most notably, RS will feature bigger airdams, and air ducts and inlets across its body for better aerodynamics and bigger power output. It should also be lower and will certainly have wider tires for better grip. Out back, larger sport spoiler should also help wit the air flow.
As with most of the track-oriented, but still highly available cars these days, Ford Focus RS 2016 will also offer supportive seats and smaller steering wheel, but it’ll also be more conventional than it used to be. Most likely, it’ll be the ST model with a few features of its own. Most of the users still require high level of comfort and touch screen display with MyFord infotainment system should help with that. RS will also get the rest of the features found in today’s top tier models like ambient lighting, Sony audio system with 10 speakers and some unique aluminum and leather accents. Safety features will be copied from the ST model as well, and new Focus RS should receive a rearview camera with blind-spot monitors in addition to the standard features which include an airbag system and anti-lock brakes.
Ford Focus RS 2016 specs
Since Ford’s rally team is no more, and their successors in Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team now drives Ford Fiesta RS, new sporty Focus will have to be at least a little bit more conventional. This means that it’ll have to find a new market for itself and five-door layout should help it in achieving this. 2.3l turbo 4-cylinder engine seems as a most likely choice when powertrain is concerned, and 330 horsepower it can develop speak highly in its regard. This powerplant could be mated to 6-speed manual transmission that will transfer power to the front or all four wheels.
Fuel economy used to suffer greatly in RS’s previous generation, but with a new 4-cylinder engine, you can expect to achieve the figures which stand in upper twenties. This will be available only if you don’t have a heavy foot however, and sport enthusiasts will soon find out that low twenties are going to be their ratings.
2016 Ford Focus RS release date and price
We could expect that the Ford Focus RS 2016 will have debut later this year or in early 2015 as 2016 model. The new Focus RS for sale will be available probably in summer 2015. Price tag is something which is still too early to speculate upon, but 2016 Ford Focus RS could cost between $30,000 and $40,000 in the US or even more in other parts of the world.
