Edge is positioned above the Escape and below the Flex and Explorer in Ford’s SUV family. As a mid-size crossover, Edge can seat up to five people and after a redesign which propelled 2015 year models into second generation vehicles, 2016 year model will be carried over. 2016 Ford Edge will be even better than it was and should return better fuel economy figures thanks to the new batch of engines. Bolder, yet more handsome look makes it even more desirable and if you plan on buying yourself a mid-size crossover don’t overlook the Edge.
2016 Ford Edge changes
New Ford Edge features heavy hexagonal chrome-bound grille with couple of thick stripes and a set of sharp trapezoid headlights. Slightly boxy and high profile finishes with roofline spoiler, angled rear window and another angular set of lights with a light bridge that connects them.

Highest grades benefit from a heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats as well. Sony is responsible for audio, but number of speakers depends on a trim level. All models receive standard Bluetooth technology and USB port, while most of the lineup gets the rearview camera. Speaking of safety features, forward-collision warnings and parking assist, both up front and at the back are also available. Beside these, Edge has all the standard safety features which include an airbag system, stability control and anti-lock brakes among others.
2016 Ford Edge specs
This essentially means that trio of engines currently available will be carried over too. Maybe a little bit unexpectedly, Ford decided that 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-inline engine is going to be a base one. 245 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque which it makes are hard to beat, but that’s why 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 was also chosen in order to give 320 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque. Last, but not the least is a 3.5-liter V6 which puts up 265 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque. Together with front and all-wheel drive, Edge comes with familiar choice in automatic transmission.
2016 Ford Edge price and mpg
Fuel economy should be best with base turbo four engine and Ford engineers expect Edge to be rated at up to 30 mpg on the highway with it thanks to the new stop/start system. Currently, Edge costs between $28,000 and $37,000 and these prices should remain basically unchanged.
